Penicillin and Amoxicillin Allergy Evaluation

If your child has a penicillin or amoxicillin allergy listed in their medical record, they may be eligible for a supervised oral amoxicillin challenge based on their reported allergy history.

During the evaluation, our clinical team will give your child a carefully supervised dose of amoxicillin by mouth and closely monitor them for any signs of an allergic reaction.

If your child successfully completes the evaluation, the penicillin or amoxicillin allergy label may be removed from their medical record. This may allow your child to receive penicillin-family antibiotics in the future when they are medically appropriate.

Our goal is to help ensure your child’s medical record accurately reflects their current allergy status and supports appropriate treatment when antibiotics are needed.
