Patient Business Office/Insurance Plans
Phone: 720-870-4740 Fax: 720-870-0242
Our patient business office staff works with patients and their insurance plans to coordinate payment for medical services provided by our health care providers. Their jobs include verifying insurance eligibility, processing insurance claims, and assisting patients with questions regarding billing statements, and insurance and payment issues.
Insurance Plans
Advanced Pediatrics participates with a large number of insurance plans and bills these plans directly. Some of the major insurance plans accepted by Advanced Pediatrics include: Aetna Healthcare, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Pacificare, United Healthcare, and Tricare. In addition, we participate in the Medicaid PCP program and with Colorado Access. Please contact our patient business office at 720-870-4740 regarding additional plans not listed above.
To ensure maximum benefit from your plan we suggest the following:- Verify your benefits – Some plans do not cover well care visits or immunizations, and others may have limits on the number of well care visits that are allowed.
- Use your child’s legal name for all insurance and medical records.
- If you are covered by more than one insurance company, coordination of benefits (COB) will be required to ensure proper payment of the medical claim. Please make sure that your insurance company is informed of all additional coverages available to you.
- Contact your insurance company for questions regarding eligibility, benefits, claim denials and errors in claims processing.
Insurance Changes
You may have changes in your insurance from time to time. This can be a change to a new plan during open enrollment, a new plan because of a job change, a change in dependents, or a change to COBRA in between jobs. Please update this information with our business office or reception staff so that we may process your insurance claims quickly and accurately.
Addition of New Baby to Your Insurance Plan
Insurance companies require that newborns be added within 30 days of birth for coverage. Please contact your human resource department or insurance broker to add your new baby to your policy.
Our Financial Policy
Advanced Pediatrics has a financial policy designed to assist and inform patients about our financial guidelines. Key elements of our financial policy include the following:- Payment is expected for all medical services provided by our staff. We do not provide courtesy or discounted medical care except as noted in our financial policies.
- Payment in full or proof of current insurance coverage for billing purposes is required at each visit. We accept VISA, Mastercard and Discover as well as personal checks and cash.
- Co-payments are due at the time of the visit. A co-pay is the patient’s portion of the cost of the medical visit for managed care plans (HMO, PPO), and is required for compliance with your insurance contract. Non-payment of co-payments may result in discharge from the practice and may be reported to your insurance company.
- APA has a $20 returned check charge for any checks returned to us by your financial institution as non-paid.
- We will never deny access to necessary medical services for our patients due to non-payment issues; however, patients may be discharged from the practice due to non-payment for medical services received. If a patient is discharged from the practice for financial reasons, we will give adequate notice and provide emergency care during the notification process. These accounts may be turned over to an outside collection agency.
Special Information for Families on Medicaid or with No Insurance
- APA provides pediatric care to Medicaid patients as a means of providing services to the underserved and underinsured children in our community. Families with Medicaid insurance that wish to become patients at Advanced Pediatrics must be enrolled in the Medicaid PCP program or with Colorado Access.
- APA participates in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program that provides immunizations to children covered by Medicaid and those with no insurance.
- APA works in cooperation with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center residency program and provides appointments with a resident physician at a discounted rate for patients with no insurance.
- APA provides a 10% discount for the office visit when payment at time of service is made for patients with no insurance.
