Allergies

Allergy medications are used to reduce the symptoms of runny nose, sneezing and itchy, watery eyes, and itchy rashes / hives associated with allergies. Brand names include Benadryl, Claritin, Alavert and Zyrtec. Generics for each of these brand names are Diphenhydramine (Benadryl), Loratadine (Claritin & Alavert) and Cetirizine (Zyrtec),

Dosages for some of the more common over the counter allergy medications are shown below:


* CAUTION: We recommend that you use the dropper or dosage cup that comes with your medicine to avoid overdosage. Dosage recommendations on bottles may vary from the recommendation on these pages. We would like you to use our recommended dosages unless your health care provider has given you a different dosage. Aspirin should not be given to your child.
